My most recent travels have taken me to the city of Dubai, located in the United Arab Emirates, right smack in the center of the Middle East. This has been my first time to anywhere even close to this region. The reality I found there was far from what I was expecting. The city itself is a man made creation. Everything from it’s gigantic pools of water to the worlds tallest building, the Burj Kalifa, was found here. It was one of the more bizarre places I’ve been too. Although the experience was unique, it wasn’t a genuine representation of what that part of the world is truly like.
I was apart of a 5 day shoot which captured a “day in the life” of a young woman exploring Dubai. There will be a series of 12 videos that will be navigated through a website. The crew I worked with was one of the more stellar teams I’ve been apart of. It was assembled by Director/Producer Gary Nadeau, with Ben Jacks as DP and Khalid Mohtaseb, Jonathan Bregel, and myself rounding out the camera crew. There was such a high level of talent between the collective, it was awesome to see such a group collaborate on one project together. I will let the footage speak as a testimonial to this. The local crew there in Dubai was also outstanding. To be honest, it was unexpected to find such knowledgeable, hard-working people working on film sets there. But we were all pleasantly surprised.
It is incredible to be doing something you love in combination with work and travel. Being surrounded by not only talented people, but also those with whom you genuinely enjoy spending time with makes the experience all the better. Here are a few more photos from the trip..
